Band on Wire
T
he concept of the album is build around the spectacular wirewalk of Philippe Petit between the – back then – newly constructed towers of the World Trade Center in New York in 1974. The band takes this happening as a symbol for the contradiction between art and commerce.
The lyrics of each song draw a picture of this conflict, trying to find a way to combine these opposites. Every song has his own illustration, inspired by the concept and lyrics. To be honest, the frontcover should have looked very different, but the label had the last word on this decision …
The city has changed face. Its maddening daily rush has transformed into a magnificient motionlessness. It listens. It watches. It ponders.
